Here are two shots from this year's non-misery Misery Cruise. Wanderlove joined us and coincidentally has the same genny block set up that we use.
Normally, the forward pads are for the main winches. The sheet is led from
the clew of the sail through a moveable sheet block, then to a stationary
foot block that sets the sheet up to approach the winch at the correct angle
whatever position the sheet block is in. my A30, a liner boat, has a
lifeline stanchion in just the right position to serve as the anchor for the
foot block, which we shackle to the bale on the stanchion base.

Cruising the Chesapeake: A Gunkholer's Guide 4th Edition
My favorite Chesapeake Bay guidebook. While it mentions marinas, it
concentrates on anchorages—the kind of places I prefer to spend
my time. And in addition to listing shore facilities, it rates each
location for Beauty/Interest and Protection. This is the guide you need
to really cruise the Chesapeake Bay—a smorgasbord of small creeks
and coves.
